"Sh" word wall

Here's a pic of the word wall from this week!

Week 4

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is exactly what we learned about for week 4!  It was all about shoes...we tie-dyed shoe strings, wore our favorite shoes, decorated shoes, had practice shoes to work with, and made a painting with shoe strings.  Overall, I think the shoe string paintings turned out to be my favorite!

A few of the shoe string paintings.

A few pairs of the tie-dyed shoe strings...the kids did a great job!! (;

I would highly recommend this book when teaching the "sh" sound.  The kids were able to come up with SOOO many words for the word wall, I was running out of room to write them on!

On a side not, even though we're in a drought - we've been getting my favorite type of clouds...the Big, Chunky, Fluffy Ones :D:D:D  They make me happy lol :P

Mom, Brandi and I had a game night this week, and it was so much fun!  We hadn't done it in such a long time...I lost :D  But that's ok. (O:

Week 3

This last week we focused on Father's Day.  We made some awesome gifts :D  I was very proud of how they turned out.  The kids did such a good job!!  The first day, we made a simple card, and then we also painted our feet to make a poster with a Father's day poem.  For our third day we made mugs with handprints, and then on Thursday the kids used markers to make a block of different colors.  Then I used cardstock and cut out the word "Dad" from the middle and put it over the colors - Even though these were pretty simple, they were one of my most favorite things the kids did - they turned out so NEAT!!!  This idea also came from Pinterest I do believe lol.  But I have to modify the ideas to what works for my class and my supplies, just as all teachers do.

One of my little boys drew this for me :D  This is him & I.  I'm on the left (;

I tried to let the kids tell me where they wanted it go over the colors.  I did all of these by hand, which is why they aren't exactly straight.  But this made them all unique, just like the kids.

After I got the letters cut out and everything glued, I had the kids write their names on the front.

These are the Father's Day mugs!!  I was planning on getting white, but ended up with these and used white paint instead.  I used paint pens to write Happy Father's Day, the child's name, and the year.  Then I used a spray sealant - I put on two coats - I don't know exactly how they'll hold up, I've never done it before, but they turned out super cute!!
Just another pic

We got to paint our feet!!!  And it cracked me up because some of them were so tickalish on their feet and they were trying so hard to stay in their seat and not cringe lol.  I also had the students write their names on these, and then laminated them

This was a picture of all of them!

On a side note - I got a Saturday off!!  Woot woot - but only because I asked off for it lol.  Mom & I had a scrapbook day and worked on bookmarks that I'm going to be taking to some VERY special people on the other side of the world in a little over a month!!  I can't wait!!
They turned out SOOOO cute!!  Thanks Mom, You're Amazing!!

Week 2

So I'm a little late, but you'll have to forgive me.  It's been crazy busy!  Week two, our theme was books.  This, I must say, was a very interesting theme to teach, but fun, nonetheless. We made color books, sensory books, and books about me.  I tried to read some of my favorite children's books.  We discussed author, illustrator, parts of a book, etc.

For art, we attempted finger paint on aluminum foil with glitter added when they were done.  I did this based off an idea I found on Pinterest.  The kids had a lot of fun with it, and some of them turned out pretty awesome!!

Here's a couple pics...

Week 1

I made it out alive!!! :D Just kidding...but I really did make it through the first week teaching the preschool summer session. We learned about frogs, so this included a "pond" at my Sensory center, and I attempted tadpoles...but that's a different story lol. We painted frogs using corn syrup with green food coloring, and I must say that they turned out pretty awesome!!! They look shiny, and it's a great alternative to paint, crayons, markers, etc., all the usual tools (: If you haven't ever read the book, The Big Wide Mouth Frog, I would HIGHLY recommend it...using different voices of course, the kids love it! So one day, for our crafts, we made big wide mouthed frogs. Here's a couple of pictures from Week 1. We had bump & jumps one day, and the kids had a BLAST!!! They also slept pretty good that day lol! And another one. Here's one picture of my sensory center. Different shades of blue tissue paper, green lily pads made out of felt (along with a couple of flowers as well), and the different stages from tadpole to frog. Another Sensory center picture.
